Waiters exploited as robots, nowadays, in the world of tourism and catering, are the norm. 16 hours a day with a salary of about 1000 euros per month, underpaid and forced to work many hours more than the legal maximum.
Cooks, waiters and catering staff, all affected by this tragic phenomenon… Try asking those who have done a few seasons in any tourist resort, even better if in a village … There are no breaks, only exhausting hours for a salary anything but adequate.

By now everything has been lost, including the presence of the Italian state which no longer exists. Not to mention the labor inspectorate, it would take only a small industry study to understand that if you hire 60/80% of the staff in a reception hall or resort with 20 hours per week, it is only a cover. In fact, based on the coverage, it is impossible. And here we come back to exploitation. There are many large structures that, most of the time, entrepreneurs do not even come from the world of catering, which are real hyenas, trying to make easy money fregggandene the welfare of their workers and respect for legal working conditions. They live on the backs of the taxpayers exploiting from the first to the last of their employees. It is 2019 and it is truly shameful that there are still places where the state allows this to happen. The situation seems to be the same throughout Italy. In the tourism sector, the average daily work hours reach 12/14, working 7 days a week for months, with starvation wages and contracts that do not comply with the law.
I think it is right, at this point, to dispel some commonplaces. For some time now, people have been blaming the lack of personnel on citizenship income. But the reality is different. The citizenship income has not gone to the Italians, I personally know Italians who receive 40, 70 euros per month and are nullatenenti. The real income of citizenship is that of Prof. Giacinto Auriti, which will soon be extended to all because in less than 10 years all jobs, from the doctor to the waiter, up to the lawyer will be replaced by the internet. When a state is in disarray people are discouraged and no longer find interest in self-realization, so they abandon themselves.

Are you familiar with the Broken Windows Theory? It argues that maintaining and controlling urban environments by repressing small crimes such as vandalism, theft and other morally and legally unacceptable behavior, contributes to the creation of a safe environment of order and legality. The school no longer forms, it is no longer taught as it once was, but it goes ahead with projects. Millions of Italians decide to emigrate, not finding a decent job in Italy. In agriculture, as well as in the restaurant industry, it is increasingly difficult to see Italians working, because the wages are lower and lower and the contracts are incomprehensible.

However, I would like to break an arrow in favor of honest entrepreneurs, those who do not exploit their staff and waiters as if they were robots, who are squeezed by unfair competition and taxation in excess of 60–70% by the state. Thus, it is very difficult to work. So my appeal goes out to these honest employers to try to create a union that is against industry injustice, that enforces what is right and doesn’t stoop to corruption and easy money. The sooner this is understood, the sooner we change for the better!!!

This will definitely lead to other issues regarding unemployment. It’s good that everyone becomes aware of the change that is happening in the world as soon as possible. The only solution, in my opinion, is to team up to create a dialogue with those in the industry and boycott the structures that pay little and exploit workers. No more hearing and seeing waiters being exploited like robots! If there is unity and we talk to each other, something will start to change. The laws on salaries must be changed, a waiter with 7–8 years of work behind him can not continue to take forever 1300–1400 euros.

Everything must be proportional to the experience and skills of the employee. Most of the time employers do not even respect the minimum union pay, they give even less, favoring the exploitation of labor and downward demand. People are desperate!
